Public Health Dentistry Diploma

Course Overview:

The Diploma in Public Health Dentistry (Dental Hygiene) program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote oral health and prevent dental diseases within communities. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students will learn dental hygiene techniques, disease prevention strategies, and patient education methods.

Entry Requirements:

Direct Entrants:

• Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with:
• At least one principle pass in Biology.
• Subsidiary pass in Chemistry.
• Any other subsidiary pass.

Indirect Entrants:

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with:
• Minimum of five passes in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.

Course Structure:

The program is structured into six semesters over a period of three years. Each semester covers a range of core subjects, practical training sessions, and clinical rotations. The curriculum includes theoretical coursework, hands-on laboratory work, and supervised clinical experiences to ensure students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Graduates of the Diploma in Public Health Dentistry (Dental Hygiene) program are equipped to treat dental diseases through procedures such as dental fillings, scaling and polishing, and dental extractions. They also play a crucial role in educating patients on the best dental prevention practices to maintain optimal oral health within communities.
